For those of you who don’t know Mauritius it is a beautiful island in the Indian ocean about 2,000km from southeast Africa. As this is our home country we do visit very regularly around 2-3 times per year. You know what it can be like when you visit home there are so many friends and of course family you want to see and catch up with but sometimes…you just want some family time, right?
When we visit Mauritius we try to do a bit of both.
Our Favorite Hotels in Mauritius – Our Island
Being one of the most prized holiday destination in the Indian Ocean, Mauritius is a hospitality hub with an assortment of hotel groups sprawled all over its coasts. These hotel chains are focused on providing memorable experiences to all guests while operating under their own distinctive mottos. Every single one of them boasts of a history of hospitality that allowed them to foster loyalty and set reliable standards.
Mauritius was made first and then heaven; and heaven was copied after Mauritius.– Mark Twain –

Four Seasons Mauritius
This is most definitely our favourite resort in Mauritius. If you are looking for luxury, comfort and the highest level of pampering, this hotel is for you: FOUR SEASONS MAURITIUS
So if you have been following us on Instagram for some time, you will know that we visited the Four Seasons Mauritius in April 2019 and needless to say we had the time of our lives. You could look up on our story highlights. We experienced the highest level of hospitality and the staff were very warm and welcoming.
One of the main reasons that I would personally recommend this resort to new mamas is that they have been so thoughtful in providing every possible amenity that you would need with a baby or toddler. Some of the amenities that we were provided with in our beach villa included a baby cot, baby bath tub, changing mat, diaper bin, baby bottle steriliser, to name a few. Other amenities are provided on request.
Since Mikaal was full of energy and wanted to explore, but we mama papa just wanted to relax and pamper ourselves, so we decided to have a babysitter from the hotel for a few hours everyday. I think this was the best decision that we made as we could then spend some time alone and also pamper ourselves at the most amazing Four Seasons Spa while Mikaal was taken care of and very well entertained in the kids club and kids pool with some of his new little friends that he made there. The babysitters were extremely professional and very well trained so we did not have to worry about Mikaal.
The resort is located on the east coast of the island with the most beautiful clear waters and amazing greenery all around. The restaurants are fantastic with loads of choices and plenty for the kids too.
This is a very beautiful luxury hotel, which spreads over 9 hectares of tropical garden on the west coast of the island at Flic en Flac. We highly recommend it here when traveling with children as there is so much for them to do and see.
We visited the Sofitel Mauritius last year in July 2018 when Mikaal was only seven months old. The setting and the location of this resort are absolutely beautiful and the staff are excellent who go beyond to help their guests in a very genuine and caring way.
Again, we had taken advantage of the hotel’s babysitting service for few hours so that we could go for some adventures like water sports and then experience the amazing treatments at the So Spa. The babysitter provided by the hotel was well trained and took good care of baby Mikaal. The kids club is located just on the beach next to the water sports which gives a unique experience to the little ones while the adults can take a dip in the crystal clear lagoon.
I would highly recommend this hotel to families traveling with babies and kids.
Belle Mare Plage Mauritius
One of our most popular Mauritius hotels. A great choice for families, couples, honeymooners and golfers. Constance Belle Mare Plage, Mauritius, is a tranquil and inviting hotel that has something for everyone, with its range of excellent services and facilities. The hotel enjoys a lovely setting with plenty of water features amid 15 hectares of tropical gardens.
Located on the east coast of Mauritius at Belle Mare, the hotel is about a 60 minute drive from the airport. It is also possible to transfer by helicopter, which takes about 15 minutes.
Again, this hotel should be another one on your bucket list. The Belle Mare Plage offers hotel rooms as well as luxury villas so if you are looking for a more secluded location, we highly recommend booking a villa, especially if you have a large family. Boasting décor by leading design specialists from around the world the rooms are beautiful, all of which are child-friendly, with cots, bathtubs, and lots of toys.
Have a great island escape!
